Interview Preparation Tips for FPSC, PPSC, SPSC, KPPSC and BPSC

Interview is the procedure of selection of right candidate for right job. Interview plays crucial role in selection of candidate for the desired job.  Whether it is government job or private job,  interview always proves to be a determining factor in final selection.

The following are the areas which usually come under discussion in these interviews:

  1. Introduction
  2. Domicile District Profile.
  3. Qualification Related Questions , Largely regarding subjects in graduation and Masters, Particularly about the Major subject in the final degree .
  4. Job and Department Related Questions.
  5. Opinion and Information on Contemporary Issues.
  6. General Knowledge based Quiz Type Questions mostly from Pakistan Studies and Islamiat.

In an interview mere one’s knowledge is not checked , rather one’s personality, seriousness for the job, one’s expression and communication skills are also kept in observation along with one’s confidence. As well as confidence is concerned, if one has prepared the areas explained above, and one’s communication skills and expression are good, confidence creeps in by itself.

An interview, for example a SPSC job interview revolves round the following things:

  1. The very first impression is created by the appearance. Therefore one should be formally dressed up.
  2. Next , greeting the panel in a decent, confident and well mannered way makes the conditions favorable further for the candidate .
  3. Now after this starts the interview one should give a precise and comprehensive answer instead of beating about the bush. If you are sure about the answer then just go for it, otherwise say sorry!
  4. One should not speak a lie or confuse the panel about the answer. Always speak the truth because they know every thing about you. It is because of your documents and profile and their experience, every thing becomes evident.
  5. Always keeps a simple as smile is the symbol of confidence.

Interview varies from post to post.

For Lectureship interviews at SPSC, most of the times they ask candidates for demonstration of 3-4 minutes on any topic. Sometimes they give topic themselves and sometimes they leave all this on candidate’s will. But it also depends upon the nature of the subjects specialist whether he/she wants to take Demo or not and from which part of the subject he like to have. To be in safer side you need to prepare 2,3 topics from your subjects so that you may be able to deliver short lecture over there.

Mostly committee for lectureship will comprise of three members (sometimes four), out of which  first member will be the head or chairman of the panel. He or she may be Commission member in case of SPSC he or she may be SPSC member leading the panel. This member will ask questions related to your qualification, experience, interest and hobbies and sometimes token questions about your qualification and experience .Second member will be subject specialist. Specialist will only ask questions related to your subject, these may be token as well as conceptual questions. If the overall level of qualifiers is high then questioning becomes tough sometimes. After that third members will be psychologist and he will only ask questions related to General Knowledge, Islamiat, Pakistan Affairs, History of Sindh, Every day science, current affairs etc. This is what you need to prepare for interview.

For example in interview of Lecturer Microbiology, there were 03 members sitting in the committee, Chairman (old guy looked friendly), Subject expert(that is your course), and third guy was a Islamiat and General knowledge expert.

  1. The panel asked questions like that:
  2. What is other name of Korti Barrage?
  3. How many canals arise from this Barrage?
  4. What is title of Hazrat Adam A.S and also of Hazrat Nooh A.S.
  5. Name the person who got noble prize in Pakistan.
  6. What are you doing nowadays?
  7. Why you selected Microbiology as your career?
  8. o2 minutes demonstration was asked from me.

There were interviews for other post in which some candidates were asked to give demo and some were only asked general questions so it depends on person to person and panel to panel.
